Mike Gilberti, a Partner with the firm, manages the firm’s Criminal Defense practice group. He is an experienced civil and criminal trial and appellate lawyer with extensive experience in a wide variety of cases.
During Mike’s 40-year career, he has tried general and complex cases and argued appeals in product liability, mass tort, commercial, construction, civil RICO matters, white-collar, general criminal defense, and municipal law in the state and federal courts in New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, and Maryland. Mike maintains an AV-rating from Martindale-Hubbell. He has been a New Jersey Super Lawyer in the area of criminal law since 2011.
Mike began his legal career as a law clerk to the Hon. Joseph F. Weis, Jr., of the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit. From 1980 to 1990, Mike was an Assistant U.S. Attorney in the District of New Jersey and served in positions of Chief of Narcotics, Senior Litigation Counsel, and Senior Trial Counsel. During his tenure, he taught trial tactics and grand jury practice to new prosecutors at the Attorney General’s Advocacy Institute of the U.S. Department of Justice. Since 1990, Mike has defended general criminal and complex white-collar cases in federal, state, and municipal courts. He has also prepared and argued numerous criminal appeals. He has also had decades of experience practicing civil law for a number of well-recognized law firms.
