In the real estate arena, Bennet has been involved in litigations representing both landlords (he has substantial experience in commercial lease disputes in New Jersey and New York) and commercial tenants. Bennet has a substantial collection/creditors’ rights practice. Rounding out his commercial-based expertise, he has been actively involved in intellectual property litigation and has experience as a tax attorney for Arthur Andersen & Co.
Bennet has substantial experience in all aspects of a sophisticated product liability practice including serving as national counsel for several mass torts and toxic tort litigations. He has coordinated the defense of major pharmaceutical (prescription, generic, and OTC) and medical device manufacturers in all phases of product liability and complex mass tort litigation (including DES, fen-phen, PPA, and latex gloves). Other representative cases include the defense of cosmetics, benzene, pesticide, blood factor, exercise equipment, and machine manufacturers, as well as asbestos and lead paint defendants. He represents health care professionals and facilities in a number of different types of litigation matters, including contractual disputes and New Jersey PIP arbitrations. Bennet is well-versed in matters involving scientific and medical evidence. He critically evaluates medical and scientific literature and develops theories of alternate causation. Through his research skills, technology proficiency, and business background, he excels in understanding his clients’ businesses and stays on the cutting edge by following new developments.
Bennet’s practice areas also include representing insurance companies in many capacities—on behalf of insureds, in disputes involving coverage issues, and in reinsurance litigation.
Given his experience, Bennet is frequently called upon to research and analyze regulatory and statutory laws and advise clients on compliance.
